@maxwell’s, 8/14/10. first headline show/EP release.

“[...] one of the most intriguing productions of this year. (…) ‘The Greatest Feeling In The World’ is certainly one of the more interesting releases of this year and shows a great deal of promise from a relatively young band. This is a really great album to get your teeth into and is a worthy addition to anyone’s music collection.”
… said Alter the Press.

“[...] after listening to this album many times, you will indeed experience the greatest feeling in the world. [...] It’s good. Real good.”
… said The Dive.

“… the (Greatest Feeling the World) EP is bringing back feel-good music with a bullet. [...] a heartfelt effort with tracks spanning nearly every facet of the alternative scene today.”
… said The Unsigned Find.

morning… is a five-piece rock band hailing from sleepy Ringwood, New Jersey.

Its members have worked in various musical projects with one another since they met in high school. On Halloween of 2008, this group came together for their first show, at a basement somewhere in West New York. Since then, they’ve released two EPs while working in the local NJ scene, and found themselves supporting touring nationals or headlining clubs like Maxwell’s.

Most recently, the band released ‘The Greatest Feeling in the World,’ a 7-song EP and their second record to date. It is a serious departure from their self-produced first EP, and favors a natural, organic indie-rock sound that is very much their own. Song structures are varied and unpredictable. Their three-guitar, groove-laden swirl does do some strange and unfamiliar things, but if you sift through songs like “Move Your Head,” “Business,” or “Scaredy-cat,” you will find the hooks, and quickly. More adventurous, moody tracks like “October” and “Glamour Shots” make the experience feel complete and intentional. No two members of this band cut their teeth listening to the same exact music, and maybe that’s why morning… seems to follow a trail blazed by bands like Radiohead, Modest Mouse, or Arcade Fire: apathy towards trends, emphasis on originality, the ability to reinvent. Most telling, maybe, is their appeal, which transcends style with an everyone’s-in magnetism that has New Jersey showgoers forgetting their drinks at the bar. There has been much said about their potential — they’re meeting it.

It’s that very potential which has fueled an interest in their music that is constantly growing. But the five members in morning… believe that they are only at the beginning. Now, they are writing music for another release, preparing to tour, and pushing their live set to the next level. And, in the meantime… they’d really like to be in your stereo.
